New York, NY - (June 16, 2009) – Tom Wilson, cartoonist for Ziggy, will open up about the highs and lows he’s lived while drawing one of the most optimistic characters in history when he appears on Fox Business News this Friday, June 19th.

Wilson’s appearance on the network morning show stems from the recent release of Zig-zagging: Loving Madly, Losing Badly – How Ziggy Saved My Life (HCI Books - $17.95). It is Wilson ’s intimate account of witnessing the life of a cartoon character icon created from his father’s pen only to unexpectedly become Ziggy’s caretaker.

Wilson , who literally grew up with Ziggy before taking over the strip more than 20 years ago from his father ( Tom Wilson Sr.) was unaware of the inspirational role that the cartoon’s personality would play in his personal life. Beyond entertaining the world every morning with original comic quips and scenic clips, the life and times of Ziggy helped bond a father and son, provide life-saving hope after the loss of his wife to breast cancer, and emerge as an exceptional single father to his two young sons.

Tom Wilson has drawn and written Ziggy since 1987, after the retirement of his father, who first created Ziggy as a greeting card character in 1971. By 1987, Ziggy greeting cards were selling 50 million cards annually.
