Tailten Lets the Games Begin for St. Patrick’s Day

West Cork, IRELAND – (March 5, 2010) – GOING GREEN! On a day when the whole world is officially Irish, Ireland-based Tailten Games and Puzzles Ltd. prepared for St. Patrick’s Day this year with distribution of its products arriving in stores in time for the special Irish holiday on March 17th.

Including special displays in all Barnes & Noble stores, Tailten arranged for its game, TARA , which elegantly builds Celtic knotwork designs as it is played, and a selection of its high-end Irish-inspired puzzle designs to be available for everyone to enjoy on St. Patrick’s Day and everyday all year.

“It’s another way of Going Green,” Murray Heasman, president of Tailten Games , explained. “We are extremely pleased that TARA and our Irish themed puzzles are being embraced by retailers so that consumers can get them for St. Patrick’s Day and play them all year round.”

TARA (MSRP $29.95 for ages 8 and up) is Tailten’s multi-award winning, best-selling product. The game, created by Heasman, is an abstract strategy game in which two-players compete to connect his/her colored Celtic knot tiles together while blocking the opponent’s rings. The winner is the player with the largest domination of color on the board. The increased distribution allows consumers to enjoy TARA , The Best Abstract Strategy Game (2006) from Games Magazine (USA); Spiele für Zwei - Wiener Spiele Akademie (Austria); and Ireland ’s Index 100, Showcase and Best Irish-Style Traditional Gift.

Fritz Gruber, Marketing and International Public Relations Manager of Tailten Games explained, “In 2009, we greatly expanded the availability of our TARA game and different puzzles to Europe and the U.S. and we are extremely pleased to have the product selection prepared for a special, very appropriate, holiday promotion.”

The special Tailten puzzles for St. Patrick’s Day feature the beautiful Celtic artwork of Rachel Arbuckle , one of Ireland ’s most recognized image artists. The puzzles are 500-piece (MSRP $12.95) and 1000-piece (MSRP $15.95) extremely high-quality sets. The company’s choices of elegant images and exclusive agreements with artists, such as Arbuckle, have earned the company high praise from retailers and consumers alike.

About Tailten Games & Puzzles:
Based outside the beautiful West Cork town of Bandon , Tailten was founded in 2004 and its products were initially marketed just in Ireland , particularly within the gift industry. With the help of the West Cork Enterprise Board, Eamon Curtin further developed the business strategy, and U.S.-based Enterprise Ireland assisted in the distribution of products. With its premiere product, TARA, created and originally hand-carved out of stone by Heasman, Arbuckle was first commissioned to paint the TARA playing board. She did such an amazing job that the company turned some of her other paintings into jigsaw puzzles. Today, Tailten offers an assortment of the most beautiful puzzles in the world. In the U.S. , the company’s products are available at Barnes & Noble and specialty game, book, gift and Irish stores throughout the country.
