PRESS RELEASE

The Doctor Is In

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - (January 1, 2009) - Stevanne Auerbach , Ph.D., better known as Dr. Toy , announced today that she, and the organization built under her trademark, will continue to bestow seals of approval on new products again this year starting with the Best Classic Products.

The Dr. Toy Awards Program returned from a brief hiatus in 2008, during which Auerbach says she focused on reorganizing the Dr. Toy enterprise, and exploring new business prospects and opportunities. “Several discussions were held and offers were reviewed to connect with a new and appropriate entity, but nothing firm has been developed to date,” according to today’s announcement.

“We will continue our mission to provide toy manufacturers, industry professionals, parents, teachers, and all consumer groups with the best on-going services,” Dr. Auerbach said. “Ours did not launch as a ‘business,’ but as a special professional service for teachers that greatly expanded.

“We will continue to work to formulate the best possible plan for the continuation of our services. If and when we find a suitable take-over candidate, we will notify all of the outstanding companies that have participated in our award programs and our incredible network of industry professionals.”

In the meantime, the Internet-based Dr. Toy resources, including Dr. Toy ’s Guide, product reviews, and the comprehensive product-related database of updated information will continue to be provided in 2009 on the www.drtoy.com website.

Dr. Toy ’s book, Smart Play/ Smart Toys, is now available 11 countries outside the U.S. It has been translated into the languages of these countries, which include Greece , Israel , Korea and Spain , and will soon be released in Russia and Turkey .

The Dr. Toy ’s Best Children’s Products Awards Program offers several “best of” lists annually, such as Classic, Products of Excellence, Best Vacation, and the 100 Best. A new award, established in 2007, the “Best Green Product Award” was bestowed on the Green Toy Company in 2008.

Dr. Toy continues to write articles, make presentations on toys and play at toy and bookstores, appear on radio and TV, and be interviewed for newspapers and magazines including Scholastic’s Parent and Child, American Baby, Bottom Line Personal, and many others, and continues to evaluate innovative new products. Dr. Toy invites those interested in toy history to respond to queries found on “Ask Dr Toy,” and to submit articles of interest for others in the toy industry in “Spotlight on the Toy Industry” on www.drtoy.com.
